To mark the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, Lo Scarabeo is celebrating the great writer with a unique Tarot deck that is sure to captivate her admirers around the world. The anniversary will fall on 16 December 2025.At first glance, one might think that Jane Austen’s writings do not lend themselves particularly well to the occult nature of the Tarot. Jane Austen’s books and the Tarot, however, convey an essentially identical message: the vital importance of balance in our daily lives. The Tarot illustrates the need for balance through its very structure. The Major Arcana are devoted to matters of the spirit, whilst the Minor Arcana deal with the smaller, more mundane issues of life. The four suits embody all the elements. In the Jane Austen Tarot, these four suits are represented by Candles, associated with passion, energy and initiative; Cups, which convey aspects of love and emotion; Wands, the rational, analytical and intellectual side of life; and finally, Pentacles, which embody physical and tangible matters.
